On the Jim Rome show, NBA commissioner David Stern, said that he “always thinks the refs do a fine job”. Are we to believe that regardless of how they perform, it’s ok? Basically, that says to me that there is no evaluation of performance on a REAL level. Since you’re always doing a “fine job”, what’s to make you improve? I can’t believe he just said that. I guess that’s why the NBA refs are as bad as ever. They are inconsistent, miss calls all game long, try to control the game, and have way more of an impact on the game than they should. But hey, no worries refs, your boss thinks you’re always doing a “fine job”, so just keep doing what you’re doing.
